I don’t care about the word, that commonplace.
\nWhat I want is the grand chaos that spins out syntax,
\nthe obscure birthplace of “of,” “otherwise,”
\n“nevertheless,” and “how,” all those inscrutable
\ncrutches I walk on.
\nWho understands language understands God,
\nWhose Son is the Word. \u00a0It kills you to understand.
\nWords only hide something deeper, deaf and dumb,
\nsomething invented to be silenced.
\nIn moments of grace, rare as they are,
\nyou’ll be able to snatch it out: a live fish
\nin your bare hand.
\nPure terror.<\/p>\n
