{"id":2572,"date":"2013-11-27T21:19:28","date_gmt":"2013-11-28T02:19:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stlydias.org\/blog\/?p=2572"},"modified":"2013-12-22T11:26:12","modified_gmt":"2013-12-22T16:26:12","slug":"music-for-advent-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/2013\/11\/music-for-advent-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Music for Advent, 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Squeezebox is a place for our Song Leaders, as well as congregants, to learn the songs we sing at St. Lydia\u2019s.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>Song Leaders! \u00a0Advent is upon us, and we will sing such good music. \u00a0Here is everything you need to lead song this season.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Opening Song<\/span><\/div>\n<div>We&#8217;ll open with a paperless version of &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/?s=o+come+o+come+emmanuel\" target=\"_blank\">O Come O Come Emmanuel<\/a>.&#8221; \u00a0Please note that, contrary to this recording of a few years ago, you can sing the entire song through once, then skip the &#8220;call and response&#8221; phase, and move immediately move into &#8220;overlapping&#8221; the phases with the congregation.<\/div>\n<div>Then, when the congregation finishes, we&#8217;ll move straight into &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/2012\/11\/songs-we-sing-people-look-east\/\" target=\"_blank\">People Look East<\/a>.&#8221; \u00a0The first note of &#8220;People Look East&#8221; will be the last note of &#8220;O Come O Come Emmanuel.&#8221; \u00a0 If there&#8217;s any instrumentalist there, they can give us a little intro.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Candle Lighting Song<\/span><\/div>\n<div>We&#8217;ll sing a new tune, called &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Day-of-Light1.m4a\">Day of Light<\/a>&#8221;\u00a0written by Anne Krentz Organ. \u00a0Intonation is the toughest thing to get on this one, so just keep your eyebrows raised to keep your pitch from sinking!<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Table Acclamation<\/span><\/div>\n<div>Rachel has written us a snazzy <a href=\"http:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Advent_Christmas-Table-Acclamation2.m4a\">Advent\/Christmas Table Acclamation<\/a>. \u00a0It works a little bit differently from our other Table Acclamations, so take a listen.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Prayer Song<\/span><\/div>\n<div>During Advent, we&#8217;ll sing &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Come-O-Lord-and-Set-Us-Free.m4a\">Come O Lord and Set Us Free<\/a>&#8221; as a prayer song.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Offering Song<\/span><\/div>\n<div>We&#8217;ll sing the refrain of &#8220;Angels We Have Heard on High&#8221; (the &#8220;Gloria in excelsis deo&#8221; part!&#8221; as we gather after the offering.<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Closing Hymn<\/span><\/div>\n<div>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/Lo-How-A-Rose.m4a\">Lo How A Rose<\/a>&#8221; is our Closing Hymn.<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Squeezebox is a place for our Song Leaders, as well as congregants, to learn the songs we sing at St. Lydia\u2019s.\u00a0 &nbsp; &nbsp; Song Leaders! \u00a0Advent is upon us, and we will sing such good music. \u00a0Here is everything you need to lead song this season.
