{"id":3181,"date":"2016-09-10T19:11:53","date_gmt":"2016-09-10T23:11:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stlydias.org\/blog\/?p=3181"},"modified":"2016-09-11T14:46:28","modified_gmt":"2016-09-11T18:46:28","slug":"fall-music-%e2%80%94-cornucopia-of-lydian-awesomeness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/2016\/09\/fall-music-%e2%80%94-cornucopia-of-lydian-awesomeness\/","title":{"rendered":"Fall Music \u2014 Cornucopia of Lydian Awesomeness!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello most excellent Song Leaders,<\/p>\n<p>A new season is upon us and we are celebrating in style, with new songs, including some written for us by some of our awesome Lydian songwriter\/composers, Angela Morris, Debbie Holloway, and Meave Shelton.<\/p>\n<p>Because so many of these songs are new, I recommend that you begin learning them as soon as possible, so that by the time you arrive at church for rehearsal, you&#8217;ll feel comfortable with them. \u00a0Even if you&#8217;re not on the schedule, it would be great for you to learn these, because . . .<\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0Having a few strong voices who know the material in the congregation helps other singers feel more confident.<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0If a scheduled Song Leader needs to cancel, you can step in knowing you&#8217;re already familiar with the material.<\/p>\n<div>Okay, behold the awesomeness of our musical selections:For gathering hymns, we have three new songs from which to choose, and each of them has a justice theme:<\/div>\n<div><a title=\"Songs We Sing \u2014 \u201cThe Mighty Will Fall\u201d\" href=\"http:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/2016\/09\/songs-we-sing-%e2%80%94-the-mighty-will-fall\/\">\u201cThe Mighty Will Fall\u201d\u00a0<\/a><\/div>\n<div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a title=\"Songs We Sing \u2014\u00a0\u201dLament for Zion\u201d\" href=\"http:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/2016\/09\/songs-we-sing-%e2%80%94%c2%a0lament-for-zion\/\">\u201cLament for Zion\u201d\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a title=\"Songs We Sing \u2014 \u201cTill The Moon Is No More\u201d\" href=\"http:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/2016\/09\/songs-we-sing-%e2%80%94-till-the-moon-is-no-more\/\">\u201cTill the Moon Is No More\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">For lamp lighting songs, we have two options:<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Songs We Sing \u2014 \u201cThe Lord Is My Light\u201d Taize Chant\" href=\"http:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/2016\/09\/songs-we-sing-%e2%80%94-the-lord-is-my-light-taize-chant\/\">\u201cThe Lord Is My Light\u201d<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 Note: this is the Taiz\u00e9 version (not the version we\u2019ve sung during Eastertide)<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Songs We Sing \u2014\u00a0\u201dThis Path I Do Not Know\u201d\" href=\"http:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/2016\/09\/songs-we-sing-%e2%80%94%c2%a0this-path-i-do-not-know\/\">\u201cThis Path I Do Not Know\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We&#8217;ll be singing the <a title=\"Songs We Sing \u2014 Fall Acclamation\" href=\"http:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/2016\/09\/songs-we-sing-%e2%80%94-fall-acclamation\/\">Fall Table Acclamation<\/a>, another new addition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Our <a title=\"Songs We Sing \u2014 Prayer Songs\" href=\"http:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/2013\/03\/prayer-songs\/\">prayer song selections<\/a> remain the same as always<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">The song we&#8217;ll sing as we regather after cleanup and pass the collection plates will be &#8220;<a title=\"Songs We Sing \u2014 \u201cAmen\u201d\" href=\"http:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/2016\/09\/songs-we-sing-%e2%80%94-amen\/\">Amen<\/a>,&#8221;
