{"id":369,"date":"2010-11-04T13:55:47","date_gmt":"2010-11-04T17:55:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stlydias.org\/blog\/?p=369"},"modified":"2010-11-04T13:56:28","modified_gmt":"2010-11-04T17:56:28","slug":"come-on-all-you-ghosts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stlydiasliturgy.org\/blog\/2010\/11\/come-on-all-you-ghosts\/","title":{"rendered":"Come On All You Ghosts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>by Matthew Zapruder<\/p>\n<p><em>(excerpt)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>3<\/p>\n<p>If you know<br \/>\nthe story of Marco Polo<br \/>\nyou know after a long journey he came<\/p>\n<p>upon the Mongol armies sleeping<br \/>\nand wisely turned back<br \/>\nalready composing<\/p>\n<p>a much more fabulous story<br \/>\nthan not being able<br \/>\nto report being torn<\/p>\n<p>apart by four horses<br \/>\nattached to his limbs.<br \/>\nFrom then on wherever<\/p>\n<p>he went or did not he brought back<br \/>\nwondrous marvels and lies.<br \/>\nIn this poem<\/p>\n<p>every word means exactly<br \/>\nwhat it means<br \/>\nwhen we use it in every day life.<\/p>\n<p>So when I say I went<br \/>\nto the grocery store<br \/>\nand felt too ashamed<\/p>\n<p>to ask where are the eggs<br \/>\nonly a very small part of me means<br \/>\nI have returned to report<\/p>\n<p>we have by our mothers<br \/>\nbeen permanently destroyed.<br \/>\nWhen the president<\/p>\n<p>opens his hands<br \/>\na door knob<br \/>\nmade of an unnaturally<\/p>\n<p>heavy substance<br \/>\nfloats up to the blue<br \/>\ndoor to the worry factory.<\/p>\n<p>Open it and down<br \/>\ndrift all the 21st century<br \/>\nproblems, stick out<\/p>\n<p>your tongue and maybe<br \/>\nyou will taste sunlight<br \/>\nand maybe ash.<\/p>\n<p>Go little president!<br \/>\nWe are all blowing<br \/>\ninto your wings!<\/p>\n<p>We promise to no longer<br \/>\nbe transactional<br \/>\nin our personal dealings!<\/p>\n<p>We promise no longer<br \/>\nto know some things<br \/>\nare important but one<\/p>\n<p>does not need to know why.<br \/>\nIf the heart makes<br \/>\nthe sound of two violins<\/p>\n<p>sleeping in a baby carriage,<br \/>\nthen new technologies<br \/>\ncannot make us<\/p>\n<p>both more loyal and free.<br \/>\nWayward free radical dreams,<br \/>\nI want to be loyal,<\/p>\n<p>I say it once into the darkness.<br \/>\nCome on all you ghosts,<br \/>\ntry to make me forget you.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Matthew Zapruder (excerpt) 3 If you know the story of Marco Polo you know after a long journey he came upon the Mongol armies sleeping and wisely turned back already composing a much more fabulous story than not being able to report being torn apart by four horses attached to his limbs.
